Branching Out Burnley was founded by John Sansom, an experienced primary school teacher with a passion for helping children thrive through outdoor and adventurous learning.

Having seen firsthand how learning outdoors can enhance creativity and confidence, John created Branching Out to help children develop important skills for school and beyond. It’s all about nurturing meaningful connections with nature and each other.

About John Sansom

With years of teaching experience and specialist training in outdoor learning, John combines classroom knowledge with hands-on skills. He has worked as a freelance instructor at outdoor centres as well as delivering school-based sessions, giving him a unique perspective on how to make learning active, engaging, and fun.
